Melissa Severn - 27th June

I am a singer-songwriter who has been writing and performing since the age of 12 on the Open Mic circuit around Shropshire (The Navy Inn, Newport, The Navigation Inn) and I recently won the Oakengates 2014 Bandslam competition.

I performed at a series of heats at Oakengates Theatre against other talented musicians from my area and won the chance to perform at T-Live, an annual music festival in Telford! On August 30th 2014, I played 5 of my original songs there opening for Union J and Lawson which was incredibly exciting for me. Also this year I won the Much Wenlock Live Arts Festival's Singer Of The Year award and love to perform for them every year.

I perform for an exciting and upcoming company that supports unsigned musicians called 'Subconscious Sounds' on a regular basis - they are based in Birmingham and I've played at venues such as Hennessey's Bar and the Bohemian Wine and Cocktail bar there. I'm constantly growing and learning as both a songwriter and an entertainer, I'm incredibly passionate about what I do and would absolutely love the chance to play at Folk On The Water!

My genre is mainly lyrical acoustic-pop with folk influences.

Folk on the Water

Folk on the Water - the RECIPE: take one medley of musicians and place into a large 8-berth boat. Add organic food, a glass of wine, assorted instruments and move gently along the Warwickshire canal. Position under a warm English fortnight and allow to occasionally settle in pub gardens. Serve with a mixture of canalside communities and add applause to taste.
